Is my amp going out on me?
Is my amp going out on me?
It thumps. Rythmicly thumps. Even if the stereo is turned all the way down. THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, THUMP. Bad wiring somewhere, or is this my first bad amp?
My first guess would be to check and make sure you didn't run your power wire near any spark plug wires under the hood. If you have older wires or frayed wires they will cause a ticking or thumping through your system.
That would be the first place I'd look.

Also try disconnecting your remote turn on lead, turn the radio off, jumper the power lead to the remote turn on to cause the amp to power up. With the radio off and the amp powered on, do you still hear it?
If not, then it's somewhere from the radio or RCA's before the amp. If you do still hear it, check all of your wiring on the amp (power, gnd, etc..) and make sure nothing chafed through the insulation to expose any wire.
