Stock speakers, Deck hooked up to an amp?

i was wondering if anyone knows if you can hook up an amp that will power speakers in the door and the rear speakers? I have a 87 GTA w/t-tops so i need a place to put them so i can't really put a speaker box in the rear. So i planned on buying nice speakers to replace the stock ones but i want to make sure you can hook them up to an amp and a cd player. So i need to know what specs the deck needs and what spec the speakers need to be. Such as channels and 3 way? i have no idea what this stuff means, so any help would be really appreciated.

If your adding an amp, you'll want a deck with RCA ouputs. The more the better. The stock deck doesn to come with RCAs, so'll you'll need aftermarket or a line converter.

2way/3way speakers are coaxial and refers to the number of drivers. For example, a 3 way 6x9 will have the 6x9 for bass, a midrange driver and a smaller tweeter mounted to a single chassis. Any speaker can be hooked up to an amp.

As Justin was saying, you can use your stock deck, however i dont recommend doing that. You have to buy rca to line level adapters, but i have noticed that alot of times you will get road noise through the speakers when using adapters.Youre best route is going with an aftermarket deck that has at least 2 sets of rca outputs for front and rear speakers.
