Hello all, I have a strange problem that has popped up with my stereo head unit this afternoon.
I have a monsoon head unit from a 2000 Trans am in my 91 Firebird and it has worked fine for several years. Today when I got in the car I noticed the LCD display for the clock and radio stations was not lighting up. The stereo will also not come on at all or play a cd, however it will eject the cd and take it back in just fine. When I turn my park lights or headlights on all the buttons light up on the stereo as normal, but not the clock.
Now here is the kicker, if I hit the "recall" button on the stereo or press either the hour or minute buttons, the LCD clock comes on for about 5 seconds then goes off again. The stereo remains non functional the entire time other than the lights working on the buttons. No other buttons will make the LCD light up at all.
The stereo has never had the theftlock enabled so I am relatively sure thats not the problem, and it does not flash any type of error code on the LCD. It just stays blacked out unless I press recall or one of the clock set buttons.
Anyone ever heard of a problem like this and know some advice on fixing it? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

probably two +12v inputs make sure you have both

So I rechecked things out and sure enough there are two fuses used by the radio. I had already checked the 20 amp fuse labeled stereo, not realising there was a second 10 amp fuse that also controls the radio/clock and it was blown. Put new fuse in and everything is now working fine. Originally Posted by jwfirebird
