Best Buy?
Would Best buy be a good place to buy and have my new cd player installed? Or should I stick to a car audio shop?

I work for best buy. Trust me, go to a custom stereo shop. The extra bucks will be worth it.. I've seen many times when someone comes in with a cd player and a service plan and wants to get it cleaned.. You know what they told them? "We sell cd cleaners for $x, just go buy one."..

I work at a custom stereo shop, and I do installs on my own. A lot of my time is spent undoing what CC and BB do.

Buy the deck and install it yourself. As long as you get an adaptor, it not hard at all.

my first system was installed by best buy, and they fried my computer bye hooking it up wrong. instead of running a wire right off my battery, they tapped into something electrical to get the power, and there went my computer. i ended up getting the money back from their insurance for a new computer. this was my experiance.

Your better off doing it yourself. Installation is not hard at all and can be done with household tools. Second best thing is to go to a custom shop. Stay away from those places like Best Buy.

Stay away from Best Buy! My sister had a system installed in her car and they somehow managed to crack the dam window! They weren't even planning on saying anything about it, but my sister noticed it right away. About 6 months later and several letters from a lawyer, they finally reembursed her for just the window. It definately wasn't worth the few bucks she might have saved by having Best Buy do it versus a professional shop.

Do it yourself. Some places want $45 to put my 6x9's in. A major rip off to taken off two screws. I plan on putting in my complete system tommorrow asuming the weather cooperates. I tore out part of interior today. You start having troubles if you are a novice like me when you start adding amps. So seek the help of a freind how can show you exactly how to do it.
I dont know about their installations, but they aren't a bad place to buy a radio. If you get an "open box item" make sure you get the warrenty. They have decent prices on stereos, when you get your new one just buy the wireing adapter and the mounting adapter. If you do you shouldn't have any problems installing it yourself.

I think circuit city has a policy against real technitions,I've been wiring stereos since I was ten,I went to Electronics & computer shop at Northeast Regional Metro Tech for high school, when I applied for a job in CCs auto shop they wouldn't hire me 'cause I had never wired fog lights(still haven't) or installed dynomat.the first time I brought my car in it was an alpine CD "insall only open-box" and they used a power screwdriver and broke my panel. next time I went to another C.C. Alpine 75wx2 amp this time I talked the salesman out of the install only bu!!****,after telling him about my first C.C. experience.then I stupidly decided to have it installed anyways the whole time thinkinking "$25 sure is a low price for an amp insall labor" sure enough, they left my fuse holder dangling from the battery broken and novicely spliced, ran the 8 gage right over my engine!!!,pinched wires in the hatch area.well the first install I got done free due to the broken console trim, second one the idiot left his Gerber multipurpose tool under the paper mat.....oops, gear adrift, I guess thats what I paid $25 for.Right now I service non-secure comunications and radar equipment in the Navy,so I really could care less about Circuit citys high tech "wire harness and fog light connecting" jobs. I'm glad I work with real technitions, working aboard our nations finest Navy war ships, half A$$ing is simply out of the question. Its always funny to stop in to best buy and listen to the novices in the stereo deparment tell me what their equipment will do for me.
