older fosgate amps
older fosgate amps
i used to have a punch50 and i rocked two jl 15w6's i had, and i am wondering if the older punchpower40 would rock my two pioneer 15's i have. i know the older amps put out alot more power than they were rated but i'm not sure if that one will be enough. thanx for any help
you had the 50, i have 2 of those things. They pound so bad, people cant beleive when i tell them i have 100 watts total from my amps after they hear the system pound. i have the 50m and the 50.2. in a few weeks im gonna buy some older punch dvcs for the 50m to drive. i must congratulate you on your good taste in amps, it is very rare to see someone use those amps.
in answer to your post, what amp? is it the 40dsm amp? what year? is it the black one with red print on the endcaps? if so, i think the old 40 series amps were rated at 80 some odd watts a channel at 2 ohms. i think you could do better with a 60 or a punch 75, 100 amp instead of the 40. you might have success, but i would buy a 60 instead cuz it wont be much more $ and you get about 120 watts/channel. i used to have the 160.4, which is like 2 40's, and it ran 2 tens till i blew em, so it will drive them, but not as good as you could with a 60.
