How should I wire this deck??

There is 1 of each, (red, yellow, orange) Red should be main power, and I thought yellow was aux. power. But to make the deck come on all 3 need to be powered. How should I wire the yellow and orange wires??

This is on an old Pioneer deck.

Thanks

If the deck is using standard colors, yellow is the battery lead, red is the ignition, and orange is the illumination lead which shouldn't be needed.

But you really should be using a harness anyway.

what do you mean by harness? First this deck is going in my other car, a Honda. The factory radio has a male connector end on it and the car wiring harness has a female connector. Since I will no longer be in need of the original radio, I figure I would just cut the wires as close as possible to the radio, so I will have plenty of wire to work with. On the original radio wires, it has a Power wire, Battery backup, Ground, and the rest are all speaker wires. The Pioneer deck only comes on when all 3 (orange, yellow, red) wires are getting power. With the wires that I had described on the original deck, how would you wire my new deck to the old wires. I hope all that made a little sense.

Thanks

I think what was meant is that you should get a new harness that will connect your head unit to the wiring in the honda. This may be a safe bet since the wire colors in a honda may be different

Exactly. Cutting the wires results in a hack job. Whether you think you'll ever want to put the stock radio back or not, the harness ensures that you WILL be able to. Secondly, the harness can be wired up on your work bench where you can properly crimp or solder the connections, instead of cramped in your dash hole. The harness is designed to plug into the stock car harness just like the stock radio did. You can get the harness for $10, or get stroked for $16 at best buy like I just did today.
