need opinion on sound quality

I'm looking for a sub/amp combo that will maximize sound quality. I don't want anything that will make me lose my hearing or make me crap my pants from the bass. I want enough bass to make my rap and techno sound good and clean, with plenty of presence. I want it to hit, but not so much that i get pulled over by the cops. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check out what's in my sig. One amp, the subs, and the board cost me a little under $500. I don't have enough juice for competition, but I can definitely wake up neighborhoods when I want to. I know for a fact that you can get better stuff for more $$$, but I like my setup the way it is.....just my thoughts

If you're on a tad of a budget, don't want gut-busting levels, but want good sound, low weight, and a fairly un-noticable appearance, you might want to consider an 8" or 10" sub in a tube. Empty tubes are cheap, and fit beautifully into the well of our cars. You can buy a nice sub for around $100, and an amp for $250. $50 for an amp wiring kit, and you're rolling. The tube way down in the well will sound great and will still provide some pretty substantial output. Total investment should come up to around $450-$500 plus install charges if you don't do it yourself.
