Will this amp work?

I can buy a legacy 600 watt amp (LA420) for $130, it has only been used once. Now I want to know if it will work well w/ these subs, 2 12' Kicker CompVR's? Or should I go w/ the Kicker IX702? I know that the Kicker one has like 350 less watts, but since they are from the same brand would it work better?

being from the same brand doesnt necessarily mean they will work better (I have some nice MTX subs but my MTX amp sounds like garbage) but in your case, kicker is a hell of a lot better than legacy...legacy is one of those crappy cheap brands (pyramid, jensen...) so i would definately go w/ the kicker

I wouldn't trust the 600W rating of that Legacy. It's probably more like 2x50, with a 0.10 distortion level- and that sounds like a certain death at mid-high volume for those Kicker subs.

That legacy wouldn't even put out an honest 50 watts. I opened up a 300 watt legacy amp once. I wish I took pictures. There was a printed board and 1 choke way over in the corner of a gigantic heat sink. Totally useless. My tv has a better amp.

Polecat,

I really dont know how much for the amp( I think maybe aruond a $100). The audio shop said that they could get me 2 12' Kicker CompVR's, IX702, box, installation all for a little over $600. I think they priced the two subs at 150 a piece, and installation is 35. So for the box and the amp it is 265!

I can get you a ZR360 for $225...that's the lowest I can go. And you can ask any of these guys that the ZR360 will be twice as loud as even the IX702.

True 600 watts....

Polecat, the reason why I wont/cant get a bigger amp is because of $$$$$.

So everybody agrees that the Legacy is a peice of crap?
