Differemt subs, same amp....
Differemt subs, same amp....
I have read from the boards that there is noting worse than wiring two different kind of subs to the same amp. If the amp is 200Wx2, can u use one channel(if tat is the right word) to power a 12" sub and then the other to power to 8" in a series? Is this just a terrible idea? Lemme know
this is feasible, you just have to make sure that the smaller speaker is able to take the wattage that the amp will put out. if it was me, i would spend the bit of extra money for a pair of subs or a pair of 8's. you could also buy a smaller amp and power the 8's and use the 200x2 for the subs. whatever you do anyway, good luck

as long as the two channels are wired independantly and not bridged, it won't damage the amp, but it will certainly sound like *** . Mixing different drivers sucks. Your output will be limited to the capabilities of the weakest drivers (in your case the 8s) and the different sound characteristics will make an overall sound that isn't pretty.
