1985 Iroc Power Antenna Issue

Hello all....my power antenna has stopped going up and down on my "85 Iroc Z. The motor runs when I turn on and off my radio. I can manually pull up and push down the mast. I believe the cable for the mast has broken. I wish to just leave the antenna up and unplug the connection to the motor so the motor won't run. I have read that there is a clip inside the passenger side kick panel. I have viewed this and it really does not look like anything I can unplug. I also saw the same type of clip on the inside of the fender. My question is: Do the clips actually come apart if I pull or pry them apart? I do not want to cut any wires. Thank you!

The last photo in this post show my power antenna removed form the car. The 3 wire harness in the upper right corner of the photo is the power and ground for the motor. It connects to the relay in the dash. You can just disconnect it there.
