2 days ago I went to my local audio shop and got my prices on my subs. With 2 12' Kicker CompVR's, IX702, box, and installation it came out to $651.38. For what I hear this is a good price,, I guess it pays to try and haggle a price. Anyway I just wanted to say thankyou to everyone who has helped me, especially Polecat. Now all I have to do is wait till I get back from vaction to get it installed!
Second off, when the subs are in, do they have to be "broken in"? I know this may sound dumb but i dunno. Is there any sort of music I should play first, ex. like pop into bass heavy rock?
Another thing, will this costs alot more on insurance? Since I'm 1200miles from home right about now, I cant talk to the insurance man.
Thanks for all the help!
EDIT: This summer I pan on buying new highs. Should I stick w/ Kicker or does it really matter? Any info on these would also be well accepted.

most insurance companys will only insure what is in the stock location unless you get a special policy. your best is get an alarm and don't show it off alot.

Never heard of subs that need to be broken in....just hook up the amp and let em rip. You may want to start your volume low to make sure everything else is in order as far as wiring goes....but that has nothing to do with the speakers.
I strongly suggest you get an alarm system installed to protect your investment. Besides, most insurance companies give you a discount if you have an alarm on your car.

re:the kicker highs.
I had Kicker 3 1/2's and 6x9's in my impala and they sounded pretty good. I even had the 6x9;s hook up to an amp for awhile and they put out as much bass as a set of crapp subs I had. I moved th 6x9's into my IROC and am still using them today. I guess all I am trying to say is that I am quite happy with the kicker speakers I have and would recommend them.

So everyone agrees that insuance wont pick it up? So besides an alarm systme is there anything that I can do to protect it?!?!
On the kicker highs,, do you usually use the stock front speakers, or someother place?
Also is 2 or 3 way better?

Almost all subs are "broken in" at the factory. So none is needed at the time of purchase. As far as the insurance there are companies that will insure the stereo in the car. I believe progressive does, but you will have to take out a seperate policy with them if you don't currently have them. If you do it can add anywhere from 100-150 every 6 months. Auto sound and security had an article in one of their back issues about this.

Hey Garmer,
Thanks man!
Our new L7 Solobarics do need to be broke in, as well as the "D" series did.
When you get ready to get front and mids, let me know. I would either change all factory to the coax line, and get a IX704 to go with the IX702 you already have. The IX704 is a four channel, with the same features your IX702 has, and it has 70 watts times 4 to power the front and rear coax.
Most insurance covers anything that is notated to the insurance agent, and it is bolted to the car. It has to be mounted, not just laying there. but many insurance companies vary,so check with yours to be for sure.
Good luck, and email me anytime you need anything.
have a safe New Year.

Again thanks Polecat! I will be gettin home in about 5 days then I will go see the insurance place.
Since I am only gettin the IX702,, later on could I get a bigger amp for the subs and just put the IX702, on the other speakers. Basically I am saying is that come the summer i will probably get a lot bigger amp for the subs!
Also what is better 2 or 3 way?
