help fitting front 5.25 speakers in camaro dash

So,

I'm upgrading my speakers in my 91 camaro RS since, my old pioneer 6x9 died last month.
I upraded the rear speakers to Cerwin-Vega 469 speakers and they sound awesome !!!
in for the front I found an alpine component set on ebay for low money.
alpine spr-50C

so I modified the dash a little and created a wooden bracked to adapt the 5.35 speaker.
on the passenger side I only had to trim a small part.
on the driver side I had to trim a little more and still its the upper side of the cluster.
now I tried reinstalling the dashpad. and I can make it to close dash, but it seems that he dash pushes on the side of the speakers, making them disort the sound a bit when yo crank the volue.
how did you guys modify your dashboard, anyone removed the speaker grills and installed ftermarket ones ?
