compared to maybe a set of Diamond Motorsport M551 or a set of ads separates??? Reason I ask is that I can get them for about $200.

i liked my set of VR5.25 CS's so much I bought another. The XR's are suppose to be top of the line.

But its your ears, what sounds good to me may
not to you! They were the best speakers I had heard.

I would say buy' em!
