How to install kicks

Hey I am really interested in DJSexay's rev 4- 1 piece kicks, 1 question: how/where do you wire them (the speakers)?? I know very little about stereo equipment. I have a Sony Xplode head unit w/ dual pre-amps, an amp is not in the seeable future, subs are even less foreseeable. Thanks!

I'm not the stereo expert here, but I would assume you have a GM wiring harness for that radio, so souldn't you just re-route the speaker wires going to the dash to the kicks?

Or if you want to completely redo your wiring, you'd remove all the stock wires and lay down your own new wiring. SOmethign I might do.

I would like to keep the dash speakers working also if I could, I like DJSexay's kicks cuz you can swap them with your original kicks and everything looks 100% original again, a plus 10 years down the road!

I would suggest what un4givin89 said. Run wires from the stock dash location to the kicks. Because running the factory dash speakers defeats the purpose of having kicks. And by running both the kicks and stocks together is going to require more power to run 2sets of speakers rather than 1set.

jobryan is right. Keeping stock dash speaks are pointless if you have kicks. The point of kickpanels is to replace the front speakers and move them farther away from you creating a better image (the farther away they are the more you hear both right and left speakers). Also with DJ's new V.4 kicks you can take out the old panels and store them, then when you sell put them back in for a stock look.

I would rewire the kicks all the way from the HU, leaving the stock speakers and wire in place for when you sell.

Hope this helps,
Matt

I'd wire all the way back to the head unit. It would be very difficult to do anything in the sense of moving the factory wiring, due to its routing. Also, there is no easy way to run two sets of front speakers, while still using rear speakers. If you're really set on running both sets (which I definatily would not) you could try running your kicks as rear speakers and just disconnect your rears. Then you could fade between dash and kicks. You can't really hook 6 speakers up to a head unit, and as I said you probably dont want 4 front speakers.

Yea now that my brain has rested for a minute, and reread the post run the wires from the Headunit not the Factory locations. If I had the factory headunit then I'd run them from the Stock locations so I didn't have to cut up my wires.
