There's a separate plug for the orange and brown. The orange is either battery or ignition, and the brown I believe is the dash light dimmer.

Yeah, make sure all wires are hooked up. Once everything is hooked up, try unlocking the deck with the mute button. If that doesnt do anything, double check and make sure all your wires a re-spliced correctly. If everyhting is hooked up right and it still doesnt work, the steering wheel controls or just the mute button might be messed up. Try cleaning the contacts out underneath the button if possible or use a can of contact cleaner on it.

Shouldn't that be the one for the 2 wire plug with the Orange and brown wires you were wondering about? The other 3 harness sections all have multiple wires.

The last harness only has TWO wires for it.. I dont have ther harness itself, but the two pins in the rear of the radio, and the two wires that are supposed to go into it... which goes where?!
Thanks guys...
Thanks guys...
Just go back to the junkyard and get that harness and do it right.
One of those wires is for illumination (brown), and the other is for constant power (orange). You won't do any damage if you hook them up backward by mistake.
If the backlighting is constantly on, and the radio will only turn on if you switch on the parking lights first....then you have the two wires backward.

look at this link it explains how the system works. http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/1500/swc1.htm
the orange wire is a 5 volt data path from the controller and is NOT for lumination. I think orange should go to pin 5 the other is black and is ground (look through the holes on the side of the radio you should see the wires inside) PAC makes a module for the interface and may have addtional info on the web site
