FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP ME!!!!

I am looking to buy an EQ from a guy at work. I don't know much about EQ's so bare with me. The one I'm looking at is a clarion and has a 25X2 output. My system consists of 4-6X9's which are run off the head unit which is a 40X4 and 2 12" subs which are run off an 800watt amp. I want an EQ that will not interfer with anything else except give me the ability to adjust the clarity on the four 6X9's. Will the one the guy at work is selling acomplish that or will it affect the output of my head unit?

i have to agree, the only thing usefull about it is for appreance reasons. they look cool with all those lights and crap. i could see using one only if i needed additional pre-outs. my friend uses one cuz his deck has only 3 pre-outs and he has like 5 amps.
