1988 GTA Steering Control Voltages

I have a 1988 Firebird GTA where the radio is in LOC mode. The mute button does not work to unlock, I have test voltages in the control pad and get 12v on yellow and gray wires, but only .7 on orange. When a button is depressed it moves from 1.6v to 1.8v. Not sure how to proceed. Thanks

First and foremost; are you sure that ou've got a GTA specific head-unit ? here are several other radios that look like the GTA radio - but are not compatible.

If your SURE the radio IS a GTA deck,..... Here is a link that might help:

The radio is the original correct unit. I replaced the control pad which now lights up, but now cannot get any voltage on the orange wire.I put the volt meter on the little circuit board and found a transistor open. A real little one. I have been looking for a new turn signal switch assembly with radio control but it seems they don not exist. Any ideas? In my central florida area I have been to every junk yard I can find. Everyone has been previously gutted.

Just going to have to keep asking around locally and looking thru classifieds till you get lucky and find the right part. Ask around long enough and sooner or later you'll find what your lookin' for !
