1988 GTA Pulling out of storage 16 years

Hey all, I am new to the page. I am pulling out of storage my 1988 GTA Trans Am, 305 Auto w/T-tops. The car will need to be painted, so the engine is coming out. I really don't want to put the 305 back in. So my question is do I buy a 350 and do a stroke kit, or just buy a 383 crate motor and drop it in. If so how much trouble will I have adopting the 383 to the current set up? Whether to keep the TPI or not? Not sure what issues I will have with the computer? Just trying to figure a budget.

Thanks,

Andrew

I'm no expert but I think the TPI would be a significant bottleneck to a 383 stroker.. If you did use it, you would probably have to put larger diameter throttle body and runners on it. Not to mention higher volume injectors. You would also need a different e prom or reprogram yours I'd imagine. I've heard of people getting 350 to 400hp out of tpi's but thats probably exaggerated a bit in most instances.
