8" or 10" sub.

I'm looking to get a sub for my car. I already have a 1999 Rockford Fosgate 500a2 amp. I'm looking at Kicker's square su line and I really like their idea. Here's the deal, I listen to 80's Metal, Rock and some newer metal rock, so I do not need earth shattering bass when playing Eminem or DMX because I simply don't listen to rap or hip hop in my car. So will an 8" square sub do me good? It seems like it has all I really need, unless someone out there tells me that i really should go 10" sub. I'm coming off of 2 1999 fosgate 12" DVC subs (I also used 2 500a2 amps at the time). They sounded good, but too slow for my old school Metallica. So what do you guys think I should get? I will only be using 1 sub now, not two like before. Thank for your opinions.

i think those square speakers are crap. they take to much power to push them because they are square. If you are looking for something to show off they are the perfect speaker i have a friend with them and they are over priced after hearing his system! I used to have 2 8's in my car and my 1 10 sounds way better. just my 2 cents

What kind of music do you listen to pimpin?

Because I don't listen to anything with big bass, I just like the sharp thump of the drumbeat.

i listen to all kinds of music led zepplin, popa roach, wu-tang, and most rap and r&b. the 10 is a better speaker then my 2 8's were.. my 8's are retired to home stereo. one 10 is good with a good amplifier and your set.My car system takes out all kinds of hondas with 2 10's or 2 12's its all on the set up.

Ditto to PimpintheRS. I listen to all kinds of music, (just NO COUNTRY) and I only have one MTX Thunder 3000 in a Bazooka tube, and it rocks. It is being pushed by a cheap Power Accoustik amp. I love it.

BTW Pimpin, my name is Shawn too. You spell it right!!! Unlike many other people.
