Shout out to M&R AUTO ELECTRONICS
Not to ****** any crumbs from home rebuilders, but M&R did a fantastic job restoring my UX1, taking it from a message board junker to like-new condition.
Courteous, fast (less than a week) and right as rain on arrival.
Was in the upper end of what I wanted to spend, but they basically jacked up the capstans and drove a new chassis under it. Even found a NOS faceplate (!) for me - their last one.
Highly recommended for guys staying factory with their sound.

Re: Shout out to M&R AUTO ELECTRONICS
I sent my GTA's radio (Delco #16062322) to them last week. Got it back eight days later in perfect working condition! Great job. It had a problem with FM reception where only the strongest stations would come in for the first 15 minutes or so after being powered on. This time was getting longer, and sometimes the reception never would clear. They re-soldered the boards and replaced some capacitors. Working great. Also had them add an AUX jack. Unfortunately, they told me that on this model, there really wasn't room on the front for the jack, so they put a pigtail off the back. I currently have it just sticking out from the back of the radio into the passenger floor well, but I should be able to route it through the center console into the console storage compartment.
Didn't want to upgrade to a new head unit with CD since I wanted my steering wheel controls to work. With the AUX jack, now I don't need a CD.

Re: Shout out to M&R AUTO ELECTRONICS
It was $150 to re-solder the radio itself and replace some capacitors.
The AUX jack was $75.
I have no idea if this is a good price or not. I contacted a number of other electronics shops that perform service work, and none of them work on radios like this. So considering that there doesn't seem to be a lot of people who'll do the work and M&R seems to have done a good job, I'm happy with it.

My aux. jack is a cord out the back also. I hid it in the astray. I figured I would need the phone out anyway to skip tunes I didn't like, pause it, etc., since I cannot control those things through the radio.

Re: Shout out to M&R AUTO ELECTRONICS
Sort of a weird thing I've noticed since I got my radio back.
My turn signals used to blink very slowly. When I drove the car while the radio was being repaired (with no radio connected), they blinked much faster, at the rate that you'd normally expect. Once they repaired the radio and I reinstalled it, the turn signal speed was still normal. They had been very slow since I bought the car in early 2018.
Also, last weekend I also noticed that my power windows now open and close more quickly.
Could the old radio, which needed components to be re-soldered, have been interfering with window motors and turn signals?

Thats the exact issue I have with mine but was under the impression they no longer messed with the GTA decks. Knowing this I plan to call them next week and send them my radio if they're still open of course.

That's good. They definitely seem to know what they're doing and they were very easy to work with.
