multi-amp system

Ok, I've tried this before but had problems. I'm wanting to hook up 4 JL audio 10" ws6 subs, and a pair of pioneer 3 way 6-9's. I already own these speakers, and a 70 watt by 2 pioneer amp. I did this before but the amp I bought was a cheap piece of **** and didn't work. So, I was planning to run 4 gauge wire to a power distribution block. Then run 4 gauge to the larger amp I'm going to buy for the subs (Planing on a rockford fosgate amp about 600 watts), and 10 gauge to the pioneer amp for the 6 by 9's. The back speaker wires are already hooked up to a line converter. The distribtion block is already in the car. I know to use the same gauge of ground wire as I do power wire. Also a 70 amp fuse block is currently installed in my car for just this purpose.

Can anyone tell me any problems I might run into? Any tips would also be nice. When that cheap amp was working for a short time everything sounded ****ty. Was it just a power problem(only ran 8 gauge that time)or is there a trick to hooking up more than 1 amp to a car. I have heard you sould run seperate power wires for each amp, but this seams unnecessary to me. I think one 4 gauge will be enough.

I can only forsee 2 potential issues. The first is that you're using a speaker level signal with a LOC (Line Output Converter). I'm guessing that you're doing this because you've got the stock deck. The stock deck has a horrible frequency response, and is not at all smooth in the bass region. Those W6 subs are good subs but will not sound good using a signal from the stock deck.

The other problem is that 4 W6 subs are going to give you a 3 ohm load. This shouldn't really be a problem for a Rockford amp, but the amp WILL run a tad hot, so you're going to have to take that into consideration when mounting it.

actually I have a Pioneer cd player in the car. I ran the line converter because at first I did have the stock cd player. Is it really worth it to run the RCA jacks?

First, definately run the rca's. Run them on one side of the car, and the power wire on the other side. Which brings me to:

Second, if you run a 4 guage to the dist. block, then it would be pointless for you to run a 4 guage to the bigger amp, and an 8 guage to the smaller amp. It won't matter, it's just that you should only need to run an 8 guage to both. But if you were to purposefully run an 8 and a 4 guage after the block, your input cable should be no smaller than 2guage. Once again, not needed.

Third, I don't know too much on the specs of JL, but I thought that the WS6 was a 6 Ohm speaker? If so, you can run two in series, and then parallel that to get you a 6 Ohm load, or if you run two in parallel then series that you will also get a 6 Ohm load. But if you parallel, then parallel, you'll end up with a 1.5 Ohm load. With a Fosgate, you'll be running hot, but if you get the higher up models, then you'll be fine. Just make sure that you keep air moving over it.
