Stock sound system...with a sub, sound good or no?

My Camaro had the radio delete but has the ERS speakers (never used therefore not damged or anything) and antenna.

Would they sound OKAY with a single 10" sub on a 200w amp? Just to last me a little while atleast... Stereo would be putting 30 watts into each speaker.

Opinions?

Yeah you should be fine. My 88 GTA had basically the stock set up in it with a changer and a cheap bass tube added to it. It doesn't pound so hard you feel it in your chest or so others can here it(if thats your thing) but it gives enough bass to satisfy the passengers. So I would say you should be fine.

I would say that too, except that for the price of quality tweeters, you can get a set of decent coaxial speakers. The stock speakers are pretty poor compared to a good pair of aftermarket coaxials. But, neither will do you a lot of good with the stock head unit. The frequency response of the stock head unit rolls off at about 10khz.

i blew my stock speakers real quick and my stock deck didnt work for sh*t but the car is from 91 so i dont blame them. i would suggest using some tweeters along with that sub at least. i found my tweets for 14.99 and bass blockers thats what i call them for 3 dollars. i use only one 10" sub as well but you can feel the bass in your chest in my car and i use only a 200w amp... good luck

I say try the stocks and see how they sound. If they wind up blowing or sounding like crap, then simply replace them. And if you have read any of my other posts, you know im going ot reccomend Audiobahn. The prices are great and they sound outstanding. i have had all the other brands and have gone back to the audiobahn everytime

email me if you need some info

No doubt man, anytime you add bass, it makes a stereo sound better and louder. Even if you have the stock speakers. I have an '81 Elcamino, and the stock speakers are 3.5s in the dash, and that's it. When I added a box, WOW!!!! What a difference!!!

My old RS had the ERS sound system..I thought it was great... I was just confirming my thoughts that the stock system with a sub is pretty good

Thanks.
