front speakers in a '87 GTA
front speakers in a '87 GTA
I got some Alpine speaker to put in my ride. The left speaker is above the dash pad and the right is under the dash. I guese it won't fit under the dash because of the digital dash. the left speaker was not mounted just laying under the dust cover. Should I try to mount under the dash on the left or let it just sit there above the dash.
Why doesn't the magnet on the speaker interfer with the digital dash?

I don't know why the magnet doesn't affect the digital dash. but whatever you do please don't let your speaker just sit on top of your dash. In my opinion that would look horrible. I'd figure out some way to get it under the dash.
I'm not sure if the digital dash is that much different than the gauges but there is a clearance problem on the drivers side of all Firebirds. I don't think Alpine makes 4x6" plates so I'm guessing that it's a 4x6" coaxial. You may be able to heat the vent duct in the dash with a heat gun or etc. to give you alittle more room for the magnet. But I'm not sure how much you would gain because I've never seen the back of a digital dash. But that process is how alot of people here have made plates and etc. fit.
