bridging

I have a sherwood amp that is 100 watts RMS, when bridged it rates 250 watts RMS. am I better off getting a dual voice coil sub or just bridging a single coil sub.

Chances are your shearwood amp's power rating is bridged @ 4 ohms. So just get a single voice coil sub. The only reason to get a dvc sub is so you can run a 1 ohm bridged load with two subs instead of four or if you have a sun that can handle the power that an amp puts out at a 2 ohm load. You have to hook up all the voice coils in order to acheive these loads though.

cam ground to crane specs
timing advanced 9 degrees
no thermostat
other than that its bone stock and ran a 16.4 @ 82 mph with earth shattering wheel hop and a 2.88 60 ft time. (this was with the rebuild and cam only)

I have a Sherwood crossover, and it's pretty cool, but I don't think that it's too high quality.

With the lower quality stuff, you never want to run more than one sub if you're gonna bridge, because the THD level will be too high. And the amp will work twices as hard just to make enough power. You can get a louder cleaner sound with just one sub.
