Is Flea market crap better than stock????
Is Flea market crap better than stock????
I go by the saying "You get what you pay for". I have the ERS speakers, I don't think they have been replaced, and the previous owner installed a Alpine head unit. I am more interested in my performance mods and don't want to spend a whole lot of money for a sound system.....Yet. I don't need everyone else to hear me coming down the road, just some bass and sound quality. I also need some versatality, I listen to almost all types of music from Jazz to heavy rock. Any suggestions on some cheap replacements for the time being. Will spending $50 at the flea market sound better than stock. Thanks in advance.

It depends on what you are spending your $50 on. Maybe you're getting a great deal on something and maybe you are just purchasing some over-priced crap.
You'll need to figure out your budget and determine what quality level you are comfortable with and then see if there is an intersection between your budget and your acceptable quality.
Good luck!

When I say $50, I mean speakers for the front and some for the rear. They were pretty much no name, atleast I haven't heard of them, except Jensen. However, I just got back from the electronic store on base and they have some decent speakers for around $80 pr. Fosgate Punch, Kenwood, Alpine. What speakers can I fit in the original places, just 4x6 front and 6x9 in the rear. How much is involved in putting round, say 4" in the front???

It all depends on the brand name. I bought some Rockwood 6x9s a while ago, and they sucked. But I have a 2 channel 300w Rockwood amp, and it's decent. It would make a good mid-bass amp. I had a 4 channel Rockwood, and that sucked also. I have a 4 channel Kenford, and that thing kicks Butt!! One good way to see if something is good or not, you have to hear it first.

Hey, I bought a pair of JBL GTO930's (6X9's 70 RMS) for $65, and a pair of JBL GTO462's (4X6's 60 RMS) for $50. I'm very happy with both and it didn't cost all that much. I power them with a Sony Xplode 7000 deck and they sound good.
