CD Player Overheating
The last two summers my A/C has gone out. I live in Texas where summer temps over 100 are the norm. On trips between College Station and Waco (about 1 1/2 hr drive) my cd player would overheat after about 1 hr of driving and the rest of the trip would be quiet. Sometimes it could overheat around town. I have the pioneer DEH-6000 and love it. I wanted to know if you guys have any ideas on how to keep it cool in the summer. If my a/c stays working, I was thinking about possibly diverting some of the cold air coming from the center vents to the back of the cd player but I don't know how I'd implement it. If the trend of my a/c quitting in April continues, what can I do? I want to take care of this before temps get insane so I don't HAVE to drive without music for any ammount of time.

In any event I guess you should fix hour A/C.
I live in South GA where the temperature gets pretty hot outside...even hotter INSIDE the car, and I have never had any problems with any of my equipment. Furthermore, I usually drive with the windows and/or the T-tops down. You really shouldn't have any problems with your head unit overheating unless its faulty.
If you crank up the volume excessively you can cause it to heat up. You may consider using amps mounted in a location where cooler air can get to them for more power. You could also place a small 12 volt behind the head unit but I don't think that would help much. Just my $.02

my mom has this same problem in her dodge spirit, its comes from having the AC or heater on, and i dont know what its called, but where your switches and stuff are at, that is getting warm, and baking the cd player...
im surprised that Premier overheats...

I think some insulation behind the dash or around that console area might be missing. I don't have a boot for my B&M shifter. Had to cut the plastic shifter plate to make it fit, so there is a hole around it. If I put my hand near it, I can feel hot air blowing out. Like I said, I haven't had any problems with the cd player except in the summer on long trips without a/c. To give an example of how hot it was down here, we went from mid-August to late September without the temp dropping below 110.
