Newbie Questions

I'm finally starting to plan my camaro's audio system and have a question. I want a clear, crisp sounding system, don't care about loudness or window shaking bass. I'll be playing all types of music but want jazz and classical especially to sound great. Are amps and a subwoofer needed for this type of system? What setup would you guys suggest? Thanks for any insight you guys can share. Oh yeah, I just bought a kenwood cd player with one set of preamps, 22 RMS and 45 peak watts.

Ever listen to the 1812 overture without kettle drums? Ever listen to good jazz without a bass guitar? It's pretty much the same situation if you don't have a sub and an amp. There's a lot more to having a subwoofer than just shaking your neighbors. Classical and jazz music has a lot of low frequency content that will never be heard without a sub.

I'd recommend, depending on what you wnat to spend a 35 watt or a 40 watt CD player (it is not too powerful). New front speakers, you really do not need new speakers since your treble will come through your front ones. Get a either single or dual channel amp, around 200 watts (you do not even that much). And hook that amp up to a 10" tube in the back. This is just my idea, but I guarentee you will get more opinons. Also go to a reliable area stereo shop and seek advice, but make sure you seperate the crap from the good info.

Current: mostly stock - newer 305 w/ 12,000 on it
Eclipse speakers all around w/ 10" tube powered by a Alpine V12 in back
K&N filter w/XStream flow lid - It is sweet!!
Future: 2" Cowl hood
