what are you getting? thats like saying how much will i pay for a 92 Iroc?
i guess i meant to ask, what all wires do you need? are you going with good RCA's, or just average? and depending on what stereo shop you go to, they will either hook you up or rape you...i dont know any prices cuz ive always done my own installs...

shops round here charge this:
1. deck-$50-75
2. speakers anywhere from $35-70/pair
3. box anywhere from $150-250 depending on labor time and materials
4. amp- 2 channel-$50-60
4 channel-$60-75
i aint cheap, therefore i recommend installing it yourself. everything is relatively straight forward, and you can ask all the questions about the install procedure on this board. its just full of knowledgable people.

Yes, I plan on actually doing the speakers and all that. The only thing that is going to give me trouble is this. The idiot I bought the car from had a crappy Audiovox bass tube and 10 disk changer but in. So the wires are hacked to hell and I don't know what they do. So I think I am going to have a stero shop try to help me out with that. I plan on putting an alpine CDA 7864 cd player in there. DO they make special wiring harnesses for the alpine decks.
Thanks

Well, I had mine installed by a local stereo shop, and i must commend them on the superb job that they did. I think my cost was like 160 bucks to have them install it, but i also had them install an alarm with that too. but believe me, if your mess is half as bad as it sounds like, id suggest having it done prefessionally. My father and I put in all my speaks and and head unit by ourselves. All they did was install my any and my subs. Well worth it.

I'm sure that the pro's do a great job, much better than I could hope to do, but, those prices seem awfully high. I understand that there are wiring problems, and that can create a hassle. Daniel is right, though. You have all the resources at your disposal to do it right yourself. You'll have pride in a job done yourself, as well as money left over for some CD's to enjoy on that new system.
yea dude, i didnt know nothing about installing stereos, and i did it in like 5 hours myself my first time in my Topaz...
its like 3 basic things
1. Power wire from battery to amps and your ground mounted to the frame...
2. RCA's from the deck to the amp, and dont forget about the remote wire
3. hooking up speakers to amp...

lol a Z28 and an IROC-Z are diffrent. irocs were 85-90 with there being a little under 6000 in 90 right?
:: wishes he had Mr. IROCZ's car::
i have been quoted $1100-$3200 for a pro install and this was for all the same basic stuff. at same name stores (both "quality auto sound") it varies from store to store. and the 2nd store wanting to sell me a 1.5 farad cap + dual battery setup was pretty harsh on the bill.
2 12 aluminum eclipses powerded by 2 PPI 600x1@4ohm amps (PPI is very good quality klayburn) with an alpine v12 f307 amp powering the eclipse 6x9s and 4x6s. plus box, plus wire, plus labor. it gets pretty expensive. i completly ghetto rigged my jensen to my cerwin in my ta a couple weeks ago and i like the improvement. im sure that system would pound like a mother, so that what im goin for.
