Sub setup for a 'vert...
Sub setup for a 'vert...
Hey all... I just 'inherited' a Boss amp.. think it's around 350 watts.. and a couple of Premiere crossovers and tweets, I was interested in constructing a small system for the 'vert. I've seen some of the sub boxes that have been made, as well as the plates. MY questions are as follows:
1) would an arrangement with the subs in the trunk/cargo space be effective for a 'vert, considering the limited airflow between the trunk and passenger compartment (possibly blocked when the top is down), or would some other type of arrangement need to be made, i.e. constructing some sort of box to sit on top of the folded-down rear seat? I'd prefer the trunk, just for security purposes...
2)What size subs would be a good choice? I'm not looking for ground-shaking bass, just a good solid kick from a rock&roll kickdrum, and the capability to handle some occasional Snoop or Dre..... My amp is bridgeable, and does have an adjustable gain, my deck is an Aiwa mp3 compatable, 45 watts per channel...
Thanks in advance for any help!!

I've come across the same problem. I've put the sub in the trunk, and it sounds great when the top's up. But when I drop the top, no bass. I've put it in the backseat, and it vibrates your brain with the top up, and sounds good with the top down, but security is a huge issue in my book. I've lost too many systems, alarm or no alarm. It only takes 15 seconds to take a sub and amp if u know what your doin. It also looks tacky in the back seat. Hmm, back to the problem. I was thinking of running ports of some kind from the trunk into the back. Anybody got any ideas on doing this, or some other idea.
Mine sounds just fine top or down, of course better top up. When I have the top down I just cheat and use the Loud button. Still plenty of base. Here are some idea's for your trunk, the interior is up to you.
