'84 Trans Am Sail Round Speaker Replacement

I have the. 4 1/16" Round Speaker holes in my '84 TA 'Sails' location that I'm having an issue with.
According to Crutchfield the P152 should work. Not the case since Speaker will not even go anywhere near flush even with hole adaptor. Not much material can be removed for widening hole due to its construction.
Have read there are TA's out there with 5 1/4" or so Round holes.
My question is simply what Make and Model # for a Good speaker will work.
Thanks
Mike

those speaker plates were for the optional "performance sound"-the standard version had sheet metal plates installed to mount 6x9s,you could obtain or recreate those plates to install 6x9s

Thank you for the information.
I'll look around for the original cover. I have not seen any standard covers for sale but hopefully I can locate them.

I've got a pair of original 6x9" speaker mounting brackets. If you still need a pair send me a PM that includes your ZIP code for more info.

I PM you but not sure it went through.
Can you send front and back pics and overall dimensions so I can see if they will fit over existing cutouts?
I found a pair on EBay and wanted to see condition and price on yours also.
Thank You
Mike
