door speaker

I have a 1990 RS. I want to put speakers in the door ( I have manual windows ) . what is the biggest size and depth that I can fit.

You can easily fit 5.25s, and with a little work you can fit 6.5" speakers. I fit a pair of Kicker Resolution 6.5s in the doors of my IROC. They barely fit. When I closed the doors, the grills pushed on the kick panels. I fixed that by heating the kicks with a heat gun, then closing the door until they cooled. After I did that a couple times, the doors closed fine without pushing on the kicks, and the kicks still looked fine.

Is the imaging as good as kickpanels? or at least nearly as good??

The imaging isn't anywhere near as good as kicks.
