I just put 2 12's in the hatch of my 85 Trans am and it leaves no room for the t-top bag. The amps take up the room where the bag used to lay. Is there any way to build something up so i could fit the bag in or am I sol!

 

do the same thing i do, only take them out on days when you know its not gonna rain and just leave them at home =)

 

someone once inlaid amps and crossovers into their back seat, into his cushion. he said it didnt affect the feel of the seat when someone sat in it. so maybe you can dig into the backseat (the back of it, where it folds down) and make a space to put the amp bag into.

that doesnt sound very intelligent to me, your amps arent going to get good enough circulation inside the seats...

 

I built a 'table' for my amps. It is a long board with 'legs' on each end. It sits about two inches high (or so). The amps are screwed to the board and the legs are velcroed to the carpet.

The t-tops fit in their bag and slide under the 'table'. Works really well.

Currently I have a bazooka in the well and the t-tops just kinda rest on top of it. If a big box with 12s sits up higher than the hump where the 'table' is, it might not work so well.

I don't have pics, but I'll describe best I can.

If you have a board glued down on top of the hump above the gas tank you can do the following. (this is where most people mount their amps)

Relocated one set of brackets to the top of the rear seat where it starts to curve. Relocate the second set to the board right about under the pull-out cover. This should give you just enough distance so that when your back seat is folded down, your t-bag will be suspended between the two sets of brackets.

If you dont plan on having anyone in the backseats (is there really enough room anyway?) You could fold them down and reverse the t-top bag. I did that b/c my box is angled and up

I'm one of the guys that put my amp IN my back seat. It works well, actually. There's enough of a gap that the heat from the amp won't melt your carpet, and the amp is high enough that it cools well. If it does overheat, I usually just put the back seat down, but I'm planning on installing a little cooling fan behind it yet.

I basically built a "false floor" in the hatch area hump. As such, it appears that my amps and EQ are mounted flush on the hump and the top of everything is flush with the top of my sub box (my subs are also flush mounted). With this setup, I can still (just bairly) use both sets of t-top bag hooks and the t-tops sit nicely on top of everything in their bag. (Wish I had a pic to show you)

So far (last summer), I haven't had problems with my amps overheating. If this becomes a problem in the future, I plan to install some 12V computer fans and build a cooling system. Anyone who's seen my system, loves the way the back setup is configured to use the space.

Anyway .... maybe you can use these ideas to help you design something.

 

Since my 2 12" subs are built into an flat board and not a box, I have my amps mounted in the wheel well area. No overheating problems and I can still store the T-tops in the back.

I just fold a sweatshirt around the glass,then set them in the rear seat. I have the case but it's quicker and easier for me because I don't like to leave my car parked with the Ts off.
