Sub box ? for pros

To anyone who has any input. I searched and found a post with a ? about a square bass tube and Jim said that it would'nt make a difference. Now I am thinking of making my box. I only need .7 cubic feet. If the box top and bottom are close to the same size will I have problems with flex?? TIA

for the most part, the shape of a box in unimportant. as long as the internal size is correct (or as close as possible), and you use the correct wood (3/4" mdf is best), you wont have any problems. i dont see a .7 cu ft box flexing much if you use the right materials. if it does, try bracing it.

I'm using a .625 cu. ft. sealed box made from 3/4" MDF on all sides and 1" MDF for the top plate. The inside is lined with fiberglass resin. The subwoofer cone will flex before the box does.
