How bad will this sound?
I just finished building my box over this past weekend. My car is in the shop and I could not test out my set up before I headed back to school. My subs are supposed to have 1.5ft^3 each but I could only build my box to accomodate about .9ft^3 for each. I have a bunch of that poly fill stuff to help make the box sound better. How bad will my subs sound since my box is to small?

filling with poly should help a bit. if you could, try the subs/enclosures in other systems and play around how much poly to put, since your car is away. also to get better replies, maybe name the subs, make and kind of enclosures (assume you made sealed enclosures for your subs).

That's a big difference in box size. It's going to be very boomy around 60hz, and it won't go very deep. The system is going to be a "1 note wonder". In general, it'll sound good with a few songs and sound bad with everything else.

The box is properly sealed and air tight and i have 2 350W Pioneer 10's. I figured that my box would be a one hit wonder. I got the subs for a good deal but if I would have known the space needed i would have bought something else. I wonder why Pioneers need such a big box. All other subs need only about .5 to .9 ft^3. I will get more polyfill because i have read you need about 1 to 1.5 pounds per cubic foot of box space. I will mess around with certain amounts. Oh the particle board is 5/8" thick. I will have pics soon of it in its completed form. On a good note, I went to best buy and they had the same subs on display in a box about the same size as mine (smaller than what pioneer says it needs) and it hit really hard to a bunch of diff songs. So I have some hope.
