Airspace in the rear of a thirdgen

was wondering if anyone might know this ... i want to build myself a box in the back of my 89 RS for 2 12" subs. Does anyone know how much cubic airspace is in the rear if the box was made so that the rear was flush? (so instead of having that dip, the box would level everything out). i know there is a formula to find out but i dunno what it is. I want to choose the subs based on how much airspace is avaliable. also, what material would you recommend i build the box out of? (my last retarded box was cheapo pressed wood and it sounds like crap!! hehhe) thanks every1!!

Transmission: T-5

Area is generally computed by:

Length x Width x Height

If you measure in inches, then divide your total by 12 to get cubic feet. This will give you a ballpark estimate.

With a box, you can get about 1.25 cubic feet with a flush panel. If you use a fiberglass enclosure, you should be able to get a lot more.

Watch out using 2 W6's. You will need a sweet amp because the the W6 is a dual 6 ohm.

You'll probably be happier with a single 4 ohm sub!! or like you said a third W6 which would even it out.

edit:
Well these guys are already talking about it.

I have a custom box from Exciter Sound in BC Canada. It is spec for 2.9cuft. My subs want 1.36cuft a piece so it works out just fine. My box pops up a bit.

9177 is right. After you calculate the volume your answer is in inches cubed. You need to convert to cubic feet so devide by 1728 or 12^3. Now you will have an acuurate measurment.
