Apple Carplay Radio with Volume ****

I've been looking for a decent touchscreen radio with a volume **** for a while now. Why you ask? Well, I like to listen to 80s hair metal as much as the next guy and my hearing isn't what it was 30 years ago so I listen loud. As most of you know, these cars get a lot of attention. It never fails that every time I drive my Iroc, I get someone that comments on the car at a stop light.... Oh, hold on a sec, let me press this volume button 32 times so that I can hear ya. Maddening I tell ya.

I've had the Sony XAV-AX1000 on my radar for a while now because it's pretty much the last major name brand touchscreen with a volume ****. It appears that Sony is discontinuing this one with no replacement on the horizon. Best Buy has it on sale right and my local store had 2 in stock so I drove down there(and had to hit my volume button 32 times to talk to someone at a stop light) and picked one up.

I had to flip the Screaming Chicken mounts but it fit great and so far, it's so much better than the JVC I had. My only complaint is that it does not have a built in microphone like the JVC did. It did come with a wired mic though.

I highly recommend it if you've been wanting one with a volume ****!

Yeah, these modern, non-**** volume controls are a real pain. I've got three double DIN touchscreens (2 Kenwood and 1 Alpine) and overall l love the stereos but the volume "buttons" knock one star off the ratings for each stereo unit.

Re: Apple Carplay Radio with Volume ****

I went with the JVC and purchased the remote to go with it. I velcroed the remote to my console just in front of my console lid so when I'm driving I can just reach to my right and control the volume. I have a Kicker Amp driving my Kicker SCTF box I bought back in 1991 and I love my 80s hair metal as much as the next guy. My set up can pound RATT, Whitesnake, KISS, and Scorpions with the best of them!
