sub sound

If I make A plate to put two mtx 6000 12" subs in that fits in the rear area will it sound as good as if I put it in a sealed box?
Is it safe to do this, or will it break anything?

Nothing beats the sound of subs in enclosures....especially if the subs are made for them. A free air board still works quite well (I have one), takes up less space in the hatch area (great if you store T-tops, and doesn't look too gaudy.

As long as you anchor the board down you shouldn't have any problems

plates blow...you might as well just toss the subs in the back and you will get the same sound...
