ok so i went to a friend that works at ULTIMATE ELECTRONICS, and asked him what to get,
and since he knows what kind of person i am and what i listen to, he suggested:
-Kenwood Excelon Deck with removable face and mask, and with all the speaker controls, preamp stuff i think
-Boston Accoustic 4x6 plate circle kind, with tweet to the side
-Boston Accoustic 6x9 matching pair to the 4x6 level
-Xtant 404a 4 channel amp with chrome plate

the deck and speakers for $450 from ultimate and the amp for $200 from a guy that works there, used for 2 months hard and guarantees it.

what do you think?
thanks! and i will get a pair of subs later, most likely with a Qlogic box. i like the way it looks!

sounds good! I like your choice of speakers. I wish I had Bostons. But I do have the q-logic box which you are talking about. I like it and it looks really nice, but I think you can do better and build yourself one.

Nice setup, now all you need is an Xtant 121M and a sub and you're ready to go.

The 404m and 121m make a really good combo as far as amps go.

Glad to see you started of on the right track with good equipment

By the way, since when did Kenwood offer MASK and removable face? Don't think that they have a deck with both of those capabilities in one. Not that I've ever seen anyway.

hey GrnPrx, they do now. the started offering it this last year as i recall. they even took the face off, and then put it back on and turned the deck off and the mask flipped over, it was a really neat idea. when i walked in that is what i said i wanted, both features and they told me that kenwood is the only one that does it, but there is a Sony that does it also now, but i dont like Sony so i said NO.

and matthew. can you please post a pic of your Qlogic box. i have only seen one in a 4th gen and i want to see what it looks like in a 3rd gen. thanks man. or just send me an email. jayc003@hotmail.com

and GrnPrx that is the amp i am getting for my Sub. the 121M. they do go well together they showed me the two and i got to hear them. man i was impressed. i really like the chrome plates on the Xtants also. and the bostons are soo clear, not sure what kind of subs i will choose those, most likely Boston just because, but i am not sure.

If I could do it all again I would:

Get kick pannles with some nice Boston Acoustic's.. Ignore the sail panel speakers and get 1 nice 12 for the rear. Power it by the best AMP I could afford after 2 months and that would be it for
