Will this work without an amp?

Okay, I'm pretty close to having enough money to get a new stereo in my car. I've been looking through my Crutchfield magazines and have pretty much found what I want. Will all this work without an amp? Here's what I want to get:
6x9's-
Pioneer TS-A6959- Recommended Power Range: 2-80; Peak: 300
4x6's-
Pioneer TS-A4615- Recommended Power Range: 2-20; Peak: 80
Head Unit-
Sony MDX-C6500X- 2 preamp outs, 19RMS/50 Peak

I'm just learning this car audio stuff and kinda know what those numbers mean. Will those all work without an amp? If you need more info to determine, just let me know, but I thought thats all you need.

Also, the head unit is 6 3/4" deep. Crutchfield says the max for my car is 6 1/2". Will this fit or is the max they list really the max, no exceptions?

One last question. Are the speakers I listed good? I don't want a huge massive system, just something better than stock. It doesn't have to be louder than stock, just clearer. Will this do? Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for any info. Suggestions are also welcome.

Those speakers will work w/o an amp. I don't know how clear they will be. If you want clarity w/o an amp i would suggest buying a receiver with a MOFSET power supply.

MOSFETs have nothing to do with clarity. The amp in a head unit is just as clear as an aftermarket amp until it reaches it's maximum output. An external amp will mainly give you more output. The quality of the sound will not change much.

please i beg of you dont get a sony car radio...I live by the sony name at work with home electronics in mind....sony basically pays my bills....but the sony radios arent worth a flip...they have a less that great rms and they wouldnt peak 50 watts if it was sitting in a bathtub full a water and hit by lightning...they dont get loud at all and i get about 5 returned every week....they look very nice but you will be very dissapointed with it..if it were possible to scratch a MD a sony radio would....you are gonna spend around $300 for that radio from crutchfield when you could get a kenwood KMD-44 for the same price...you can compare the two side by side and see which is the better pic...unless you are really stuck on that sony and are willing to deal with its downfalls (ie..quality and overall satisfaction) i would consider the kenwood and if you dont like it keep looking for something else but i promise sony will dissapoint you...

Well I am also looking at the Kenwood KMD-X92 I believe. It looks nice but its about $200 more. Will the Sony be as loud as the stock radio? I'm not looking for a really, really loud system. I looked into the KMD-44 and see its for MiniDisc Long Play. Will this also play normal 74 and 80 minute MDs? If not, hows the KMD-42? Thanks for the suggestion.

The sony radio is probably gonna be pretty comprable to the factory volume....thats considering the new 52x4 models...as far as the KMD-X92 that is an extremtly excellent radio..anyone who has a kenwood excelon product will tell you they are very happy with what they got..the KMD-44 i mentioned to you will play all MD's...referring to the lonplay thats just basically the ability to add a cd or md changer..i have never seen a KMD-42 so i wouldnt know what to tell you about it..the KMD-X92 is obviously gonna be a superior radio and if you wanna spend $500 on a radio that would be the one to get...i wish i would have spent the money on that rather my pioneer 8000r but the screen savers got me on that one...if u can save up the extra $200 go with the excelon...hope that helps ya man

No, longplay MiniDisc is the ability to put like 320 minutes I believe on one MiniDisc. The have a recorder that can do that but the disc can only be played on MDLP units, such as this. It's not CD/MD changer capability. Anyway, thanks for the insight. I think I will either wait a little for the KMD-X92 or get the KMD-44. Thanks again.

not sure of the exact part#,but I would highly recomend the new alpine CD. I wish I could recall the part #,it is the only one in the $275 range with a digital volume dial. I put this in my sisters car with alpine/polk speakers powered by the head unit. it sounded fantastic!! the "sub level adjust" feature is great too,I used that for the two rockford 12"s in the trunk, with 65w rms/ch it mixes niceley, just the inside speakers produced outstanding bass response for the average listener. we only used the 12"s because we had them lying around. go Alpine,it's just my personal opinion for good sound without an amp.

Thanks junkyarddog, but I don't want a CD head unit. I'm definately getting a MD head unit. I e-mailed Crutchfield about the KMD-X92 and they said I would have to remove the support bracket for it to fit, but it won't make the unit move around. Is that true? Also, I need to get an antenna adapter, correct? Where can I get these? Crutchfield includes one free, and a mounting kit and wiring harness for free, but its also $520 from them and I know I can find it cheaper. Would it be cheaper to get it for like $430 and buy an antenna adapter, wiring harness, and mounting kit or no? Where can I get these things? Thanks again guys, sorry to be such a pain in the *** .

As far as being able to buy it cheaper watch out for refurbished items being sold or not from a authorized dealer....if your not careful who you get it from you get into warranty issues or lack there of...i would get it from crutchfield and take the free stuff..you'll prolly play an extra 50 bucks but it'll be worth it in the end..trust me...as far as removing the supports...depending on how snug it fits you shoud be ok..i always like to use cutting as a last resort...but ya gotta do what u gotta do...it may not be as simple as cutting and throwing it in there..you may need to make some other kinda support for it...just try it and go from there...also consider removing the back plate and flush mounting the radio...it looks amazingly better...hope that helps..dont worry about all the questions..we all had them at some time..

Thanks a lot. I think I'm just gonna get it from Crutchfield for the extra money. They have lots of help available, and they are reputable. I want to flush mount it, but heard its hard to do. I'm definately a beginner and I don't know if I'll be able to do it. Is it really that hard? Thanks again guys.

Does anyone know if he can just cut the top of the back brace in the car? You know, just cut a channel in the bracket for the stereo to sit on, then strap the stereo to it. I dunno if it would work, but I am about to try it myself. I gotta mounting kit on mine now and it sticks out a little. I don't like that. I would rather have it flush with the factory trim plate.

Ok..

everything will work off the head unit except for the 300 watt 6x9's you had listed.
I have those and I am using a MTX 8302 amp to drive them and believe me.. you want the extra power pushin those cuz they crave the power.

as for the head unit.. I wouldnt go with SONY if someone gave me the money..
I work at American in Rockord, and we get more sony explod decks returned than you can imagine..
get a KDC-617.. its not bad priced deck, and they sound great, and I barely see any returned.. the last one returned was only cuz it didnt fit in the dudes car.
