Question on Remotes

I have a Kenwood eXcelon x911 and it comes with an I/R remote.

I would like to mount an I/R repeater in the car somewhere so I can use the remote from outside the car.

Does anyone know where I can get a 12v I/R repeater that has wires for the receiver and transmitter?

The setup would be a small transmitter mounted somewhere where it could hit the radio's I/R receiver; and a receiver that's small enough to mount on the dome light.
Each of these sensors would need wires that could be routed to the main repeater mounted under the seat or something.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Thomas.

How far are you planning on being from the car? I have a remote and can use it up to 15ft from the head unit, as long as I have a line-of-sight shot.

Well, the farther the better I guess. I'd use it when I'm camping, or at the lake hanging out. So a good 20-30 feet would be nice, but is probably unrealistic.

The line-of-sight thing is my problem. I would like to be able to just point my remote at the car and have the radio react. I don't like having to walk up to it and aim the remote inside a window.

With an I/R receiver mounted on the dome light, I should be able to hit it from any angle ........ through the windows.
