Set-up question; fronts + rears + amp with no subs
I have a full audio system in my car right now. I have posted quite a few questions on this board regarding wiring and hookup, and I'm really grateful to everyone who has helped me... However, I think I'm going to remove my subwoofers, and buy a decent set of 6x9's and 4x6's. I'm doing this mainly from a security standpoint (all my amps are visible right now), and I miss my storage space in the rear.
I have read a few previous posts and I think I'm going with the Boston 746 plates for the front and Boston RX97 6x9's for the rear. I have a Nakamichi CD40z head unit, rated at 43x4 watts peak power. Should I run these speakers off of the head unit, or use two of my smaller amps? The Nak unit has outputs for front, rear, and subwoofers (the sub channel contains all the frequencies). If I decided to run the speakers off of my amps, would I need to use my old crossover too? I'm thinking that I wouldn't, seeing as how the head unit already has separate outputs for the fronts and rears. The two smaller amps that I have are each rated at 30x2 watts; would that give me considerably more quality over the head unit's internal amps?
