wood cutting question for all you box builders
wood cutting question for all you box builders
OK. I've made all of my cuts for my box and cut out my holes for speakers and terminal cups. I test fitted some peices, and so far everything is going as planned and looks good.
Here's the problem- I can't make correct angle cuts on the edges. I have it designed to sit flush with the slope of the rear hatch and need to cut the edges at the proper angle. The way I thought I could do that did not work at all. I've got a radial arm, table saw, circular saw, and dremel all at my disposal. Can somebody give me a quick carpentry lesson?
Thanks for the help!!!!!!

You apparently figured it out, but I'll provide this info for the others that may want it:
Make life much, much easier and just use a 45 degree angle instead of trying to match the angle of the car. Any circular saw or skil saw will let you cut at a 45, and you don't have to worry about getting the compliment of the angle at the other side because it'll be 45 too.
I suggest cutting the flat angled piece, and saving the sides for last. Once the front and back of the box is done, you can just hold a piece of wood in place and trace it to the other pieces and Voila! A perfect match with absolutely no measuring or calculations.

There's ways to do it with a miter box but I don't have one of them. In the future, I think I'll take Jim's advice!
