Need opinions

I have a line on an Alpine amp, 3527. It's a 4x25 watts RMS. The gye wants $95. Good price? Oh, it's a what does 4/3/2 mean? I was thinking about bridging all 4 channels together to run my Boston components in my kicks. I'll leave the rear 6x9's on the HU and get a separte amp for my sub(which I don't have yet). What do you think? Any opinions are welcome. ~Arnold

4x3x2 and should also be x1, means that thats how many components "4 channels total" can be driven from the amp.
Sounds like a fair price for a quality name 4 channel amp. IMO its much better to run all your speakers, kicks&sails through the amp, I dont know of any head unit that puts out 25w per channel rms and most 6x9's need 25rms as a min.

I had always heard that if you give sails too much power it will screw your soundstage up. That's why I was going to leave them on the HU. I guess I'll have to do some more research:-)

SSC, almost all 4 channel amps CANNOT be run into one channel. The 4/3/2 means.....
(4) 4 channels @ 25 watts or
(3) 2 channels @ 25 watts plus the other 2 bridged into one and you'd get about 70-80 watts
(2) 2 bridged channels at 70-80 watts each.

So he would us in in the bridged mood and run approx. 75 watts each to the Bostons.

$90 sounds fair depending on how old the amp is. If it is one of the old black ones, $40-50 is fair price.

I am confused at how you get 70-80 watts out of two bridged 25 watt channels. Shouldn't it be more like 40 to 50 watts? Sorry, kinda new at all this BTW, it is a black amp, (not a v12) So I'll probably offer about $50 ~Arnold

2 channels at 25watts into 4 ohms = 50 watts mono into 8 ohms. In a cheater amp this would yeild a true 100 watts into 4 ohm mono.

I have 3 old 3522 amps rated 30x2 at 4 ohms or 80x1 into 4 ohm mono. It is the old "black" chassis with Duo Beta circuitry. I had one burn a chip on the board and the tech called me back after repairs.....
at 12.5V it was pushing 50 x2 into 4 ohms and not even close to clipping.

THAT is a amp! at 14.4V it was in the 65x2 into 4 ohms from a amp rated at 30x2.

I've been saving it and it will see use in the front stage of my TA.

I agree with SSC. I don't know what kind of 6x9s you are running, but I have an MTX amp pushing 70 watts RMS per channel to a pair of Eclispse 6x9s. Trust me, they sound way better with an amp than without.
