Reinforcing the stock rear speaker "enclosure"
Would i benefit by making the fiber backing solid? I have already coated the inside with duct tape and that helped. I have been thinking about using some fiber glass resin and hardener to make it solid. I would seal the holes. What do you think?
I did the same thing. Kinda. What a did was put a set of diamond 6.5" hex drivers in a fiberglass enclosure that was molded from that black fiber stuff. I had to use a bondo and what not to seal it proberly and get a flat surface to mount the speaker to but all in all it turned out very well. Since I tore all that stuff out I also filled the cavity down there with hardening expanding foam. It added ridgety (sp?) to the sheet metal back there to stop vibrations. Make sure you 'glass a few layers, one or 2 won't cut it.

Since the speaker backing was now solid, was it hard to get it back in? I am just affraid that i will go through all this trouble and i won't be able to get it back in!
You foamed in the entire area? or just above the wheel well.
Who knows of a good place to buy fiber glass resin and hardener?
