I'm installing a new system but have Q's....

Here's what I have that is more than half installed:

New polykevlar 4x6's in the dash (75 RMS), new polykevlar 6x9's in the sail panels (65 RMS) and 2 subs in boxes in the back. I have a 260 watt 4-channel amp powering the dash and sail panel speakers and a seperate 200 watt 2 channel amp to power the 2 subs. I have a brand new CD player to finish it all off, it's nothing great but it's decent and it works (most importantly the color of the lightsd in the deck matche the rest of the guages).

I have an 8 guage power cable and an 8 guage ground, both T-off at the amps to power and ground them both. I'm using the non powered phono jacks from the back of the deck to go into the amp. I have a single 60 amp fuse in the middle of the power cable before it T's'-off to the amps. Both amps have 30 amp fuses. I'm using 16 guage speaker cable to go from the amp to all of the speakers.

The only thing I don't have yet is a couple of 8's or 10's in boxes that are 100 watts RMS each.

I don't know much about aftermarket systems so I wanted to post this to see if all of this sounds right. It sounds pretty good right now and like I said I don't even have the woofers yet.

Everything sounds good. The only question i have is where is the fuse mounted? It should be as close to the battery as possible. To me it sounds like you have the fuse close to the amps... thats a no-no.

Nice ride

*edit*

what does this mean? "I have an 8 guage power cable and an 8 guage ground, both T-off at the amps to power and ground them both." Your power and ground wires go from the source to the amp and then thats it... they shouldn't t-off and go elsewhere unless they goto another amp.

That is what I mean, I have single positive pliting off to power both amps, same for the ground. I do have the main fuse in the back towards the amps but it before it splits off to the amps, that's a bad spot? Why doesit have to be near the battery?

Cool site deadtrend, there was alot of good info there.....

The point of putting a fuse on the power wire is not to protect your amps but to protect your electrical system in case the wire shorts somewhere. So if you have your fuse at the back, the whole length of the wire between the fuse and battery is unprotected...if it shorts, you'll get alot of sparks, heat, smoke, funny smells, etc. You put the fuse as close to the battery as you can, so that if any of the wire shorts, it will just blow the fuse.

Ok, the 2 subs would not fit where I wanted them so I went with an 8 inch bass tube. It's about 300 watts max. I just bridged the 2 channel amp into one to power the sub.

I also relocated my main fuse like you guys said.
