HOW DO I GET RID OF THESES SUB/SPEAKERS

Hi guys, I have the system with the gain, im i have a little speaker and kinda like a sub, i want to put some nice 6X9's how do i get rid of this subwoofer type box

Don't get 6x9's... put a good 5¼" or 6½" component set... i think ur seeing is a tweeter and a midrange which is a component set. Trust me a good component set will sound better than a 6x9

It's just a few 7mm screws holding it in. You'll probably have to losen the plastic panel to get it out though.

What you have is the factory sub system, a panel with a 4x6 and a 5 1/4 "sub" this was a factory upgrade in 85-88 T/A's. If you really want to take them out just remove them and put 6x9 mounting plates out of a 6x9 equiped 3rd gen in.

Does anyone know the rms on the factory sub and the 4 x 6. i want to change the system over to a 6x9 and a seperate sub. or do i just upgrade whats there

U need to loosen the bolts on the perimeter of the box, and then unplug the sub. . .in order to get the box out tho, I needed to take the top speaker off, because I couldn't find the harness, it was burried. once the box is loose you need to work it a little bit to get it to slip right out. Be carefull not to strip the screws along the endge, or else the box won't seat right again and it rattles like hell, I learned the hard way and had to do mine twice over.
