Speakers dont sound good

I have a pioneer head unit and sony explod 6x9s in the back. The problem is they dont sound as good as they can. No base, and a lot of ratling. I was wondering if the speaker cavities in the 3rd gen camaros are a bad design for sound quality. Or maybe I just have bad wires. If anyone can help I would apriciate it.
Thanks.

I had a set of Xplod 6x9's in the back... not the Wal-Mart set but the $100 set from Circuit City... I had them running off my Xplod Deck... I thought they sounded great... until I heard something else... the speakers are not great at all and the speaker cavity things are like really big so it doesn't sound good

This set up should sound fine and provide plenty of bass. It kind of sounds like an installation problem. For 6X9 speakers to develop bass, they have to be well sealed from the rear of the speaker to the interior of the vehicle. I like to use foam weather stripping to do this. Next, stuff the cavity behind the speaker loosely with fiber fill, which you can get at an arts and crafts store.

The speaker placement in 3rd Gen Camaros is pretty rotten to start with, and prone to noise, usually caused by plastic trim pieces in the area of the speaker, so check these out and tighten them up.

Hope this helps.
