Getting an Alpine system
Getting an Alpine system
My cousin got a job at the local Car audio place. Its a good quality place. They are Licenced by GM for car audio repairs. And only carry good names. Alpine F1 Status and normal Alpine, Rockford, Pioneer Premier (no normal pionner) Kicker, and MB Quart. I can now get all my **** at slightly above cost. So i decided to get a complete Alpine system. Heres how it goes:
CD player - CDA-7873
11-band EQ /w crossover - ERE-G180
6-1/2" R-Series Component Speakers
4"x 6" S-Series Coaxial 2-Way Plate Speaker
6" x 9" R-Series Coaxial 2-Way Speaker
OK i lied my amps and sub are Rockford
Rockford Fosgate Punch 400.4(all spkrs)
Rockford Fosgate Punch 250.2(sub amp)
Rockford Fosgate HE2 RFP3215 15" sub
Now i just need some kickpanels(6.5s) and a heat gun to get the 4x6s in. PS Im keeping the 6x9s for when i don't want to listen to the sub so i don't want no flak about that. All in all what do you think though?? Sounds pretty good to me!!

You have three sets of speakers? I would go with the kicks w/ components and throw out the 4x6's. If you have a multiple source front stage you lose 'point-source' location and your soundstage will be confusing. I like Alpine a lot. Maybe the best brand (except Eclipse) that manufactures a whole system (HU to subs). I recommend them. I'm not a big fan of RF or a single 15" but I've heard the HE2's are pretty good. I'd go with some Alpine subs maybe two 12's or 10's. You should have a pretty nice system though.
Stay cool,
Matt

ditch the 4x6's, and go with MB Quart for components.

I agree with DJ. Alpine speakers are nice, but Quarts are much better. Put 6.5" separates in the kicks, and an identical pair in the 6x9 location. If this puts you over budget, save money somewhere else. Good speakers should be a priority.

So what your sayin is ditch the 4x6s all together!! And just use 6.5 Component sets. As for what brand i think id take the Alpines' over the MB Quart I've listened to the Quarts and they don't seem to have as much on the low end as the Alpines. For mid and high they sound about the same. Plus the price point for the MB Quarts is higher then i want but 2 6.5 Alpine components are doable. How would i mount them into the 6x9s spot?? As for the Rockford stuff. I love Rockford, in all honesty i already have the Rockford sub and 400.4. The 400.4 is great i can run the DVC sub down to 2ohm bridged across any channel on the 400.4 and will sit there and crank the tunes all day long at full blast and never trip out or anything. I definetly beleive Rockford underates there amps. This is a normal Punch amp too. I have a buddy with a 500.2 and that thing has some stupid power to it. And they sound as clean as anything i've heard at any Sound off contest i've been to in my city.
