Remote Start
Remote Start
I have an alarm question about my alarm. How much would it cost to add a remote start to my alarm. I have an Excalibur AL-900ATV2. It has a kill switch, keyless entry, and two sensors among other things. It has the capability to use the remote start, but how much would the parts to actually do it cost? What parts do you need? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

As long as your remote has an optional leads that tell it that the car is on and the such, then you shouldn't have much trouble.
Personally I would never add one to an existing alarm. Too many wires, too many problems, too much of a PITA to be worth the time.
I just added an Avital avistart 6500 and was happy. It has everything, the works, remote start unit, long range remote, really easy to understand install and program menues. You can even program the darn thing to turn the car on when it's cold AND you still have 2 remote options for anything you want to add. I have my headlights and did have my garage door opener on it. It's a lot easier to just use one system instead of installing a bunch of components. You'll run into the problem of having the remote start not working if your alarm doesn't know to be disabled. This is where you get into problems with which buttons to press when etc. It's probably not what you wanted to hear but it's just that from my experience, I wouldn't want to put anybody through the painstaking process of getting an alarm to work with an aftermarket component.
