Need help. Lights on, stereo on.

Hey Guys, The funniest thing happened today. I had a system in my 86 TA and after about 2 yrs. my amp guage went down when I had my lights on. I thought maybe my alt. was going out. Checked, Not the problem though. Well i took my system out and put the factory one back in. Now without my lights on i have no bass at all. With my lights on and the stereo off, the stereo comes on. When I turn on the lights with the stereo on I get bass. The bass volume won't work without the lights. By the way, I have a bass boost on my dash for the rear speakers also. I can't hear it very well without the lights on either. PLEASE HELP very confusing. Hopefully someone could tell me were to look for for the short. Thanks for you help.

Sounds like you connected the remote turn on lead for the amp to the car's power wire that is normally used to turn on the radio lights (illumination wire). Reconnect the HU using the proper wires and your problem should be fixed.
